Featuring: Lena Guberman, Erez Gavish, Osi Wald
Curator: Lital Marcus Morin
25.11.24 - 30.1.25
Violence against women is a widespread social issue that crosses sectors, ages, and socioeconomic statuses. This violence manifest in various forms: verbal, economic, digital, spiritual, and physical. Each of these leaves a profound mark on the lives of affected women, impacting their mental and physical health and diminishing their opportunities for a fulfilling life
The exhibition is based on conversations the curator held with women who have escaped cycles of violence. During these conversations, the women shared their personal stories, feelings, and the challenges they face in their journey toward recovery and coping with the emotional and physical consequences of violence
The works on display give voice to the spectrum of emotions experienced by these women, from the onset of violence to the various stages of coping – expressing pain, fear, the yearning for a safe home, moments of loneliness, alongside moments of self-discovery and new beginnings
The full interviews will soon be published in digital format
The curator wishes to thank the courageous women who shared their stories with her openly. Special thanks to Tzipi Levi, Head of the Unit for Women and Violence Treatment, and Deborah Adler, Social Worker for Family Services in the Jerusalem Municipality’s Welfare Department
The exhibition is presented as part of a project by the Jerusalem Municipality – Office of the Mayor, the Unit for Women and Violence Treatment, the Department for the Advancement of Women, the Department of Visual Arts, Na’amat, Jerusalem’s West Pisga Center, and the Community Security Authority – Manhi, taking place throughout November at various locations across the city
